Need feedback on app idea: One Task A Day
I need your feedback and comments on an app idea I have. The app is an online to do list tool that lets you focus on doing just one task a day. Each user will have a homepage. For example, my homepage is http://<app name>/milofelipe and if I go to my homepage on July 17, 2010, I will see this (homepage mockup):
I will click on the “Done” button when I’m done with the task. I will see a new task when I go to my homepage tomorrow.
Once I’ve setup everything, I will just have to look at my homepage at the start of each day to be reminded of the task I need to accomplish.
The homepage is public. Anyone who knows the URL will be able to see my task for the day. But they won’t be able to make it “Done”. I’m not sure if this will be an issue. I’m thinking of having the option to make the homepage private.
The Admin page mockup is:
Determining the task to show will be based on the order of the tasks in the list. There is an option to randomly select a task to do.
The above is the Minimum Viable Product and probably covers the free version of the app. I’m thinking of offering a premium personal version for $12 per year (there will be an early adopter price of $6 per year). In the premium personal version, you can group tasks into a project. You can create “Project A” and add tasks under it and create another “Project B” and add tasks under it. You can then select which project to be active. Tasks displayed in the homepage will be from the active project. Another feature in the premium personal version is to have daily email and IM reminders. The app will nag you to do your task. Reminders will only stopped once the task is marked as “Done”.
I’m also thinking of offering a premium small business version for $24 per year (there will be an early adopter price of $12 per year). This will have the features of the premium personal version plus the functionality of having multiple users (5 - 10 users).
There will be mobile clients so you’ll have remote access to your tasks.
I’m still thinking of other features to offer.
Your feedback and comments are most welcome. What do you think of the idea? Do you see yourself using an app like this? What features are missing? Will an app like this be useful?
Thanks!
